Caroline Waite

Caroline Waite " Bird Watching" Mixed Media Collage
Collection of the IMCAC (Baker's Dozen Exchange # 8)

Combining collage, assemblage and sewing, Waite creates fasinating collage works that are at once surrealistic and scientific in feel. The surrealistic echo comes from a resemblance to Joseph Cornell's boxes and collages that employ containment style organization and birds. The scientific element, which really permiates much surrealist art, seems to be in the feeling of collecting things into types and sorts. In fact, collecting and organizing seems to be a key element in Waite's collage work. You can visit Caroline Waite's website at: http://carolinewaite.com/

Cecil...Thanks for your nice comments on collage clearinghouse in our collage yahoo group. I added your blog to my link list and hopefully we can continue to share information back and forth with each other. Did anything ever come of the hannah hoch site we worked on together years ago? Is it online? lost in space?
This work by Caroline Waite is reminding me of Cornells' bird assemblages. I am diggin the orange....
