Combining collage, assemblage and sewing, Waite creates fasinating collage works that are at once surrealistic and scientific in feel. The surrealistic echo comes from a resemblance to Joseph Cornell's boxes and collages that employ containment style organization and birds. The scientific element, which really permiates much surrealist art, seems to be in the feeling of collecting things into types and sorts.
